Violence Against Dragons, Blackfriars

Man on a horse attacking a harmless dragon

A sad reminder of our more brutal past, spotted by Instagram user @trynottobreathe at the Premier Inn, Blackfriars. As St George’s Day approaches, we must once again ask that people refrain from sharing or celebrating ‘patriotic’ images which glorify violence against dragons. Just because it’s ‘traditional’ doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. Dragons are beautiful, noble creatures, who are far more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators of it. St George is also the patron saint of syphilis.
