Stone Scales, Smithfield Meat Market

The final species we spotted around Smithfield Meat Market. This small, stone-camoflaging pair have a beautiful scale pattern – which indicates the strong and powerful protective properties of their scales. Sadly, in times gone by, this type of skin was much prized for use in armour. As such, species with these traits were hunted almost to extinction with the larger breeds being the first to go (as larger dragons had more of the prized skin). As such, there was a kind do ‘survival of the smallest’ in Medieval Europe. This bonded pair are each probably no bigger than pigeons. Swipe to see the building where we spotted them.
